The Heat is on

Local girl Catherine Manifield successfully completed The Sahara Desert Race which began on April 10th 2010.

This is a gruelling self sufficiency race that takes place over 5 to 6 days in temperatures exceeding the late 30's.

Catherine completed the race in 70 hours and 42 minutes in extreme heat and was lucky to finish as one day temperatures reached between 45 and 50 degrees.

1017 people started the race and 90 dropped out.

Catherine, from Cosby Leicestershire is an animal lover herself with horses, cats, a tortoise and a rabbit, appreciates the costs of feeding and providing shelter for animals, and that is without the added costs of any veterinary treatment that may arise.
Catherine raised over £2000 for Leicester Animal Aid.
Well done Catherine, your continous support is really appreciated, especially by the animals.
